  1. Speaking of female authors, one my top PI novels was authored by Delores Hitchens entitled "Sleep with Slander." California PI Jim Sader is on the hunt involving a child missing person case. It's the second Jim Sader novel in only two appearances. You'll wish Delores Hitchens wrote more.

  2. Thanks for another great episode guys! I'll be looking into Black Samurai when the used book stores in my area reopen which hopefully is next week!

I'd like to get some recommendations of great westerns written by women if anyone has them please put in comments!

  3. I'll second the recommendation of Megan Abbott. I've read a couple of her crime noir books that are very reminiscent of 1960's-70's crime novels. She was also a writer on the television series, "The Deuce" so if you've ever seen that, and how edgy it is, it'll give you a good idea of her style. But beware, she also writes contemporary thrillers, that are also good but not what a typical Paperback Warrior fan will likely be looking for.

  4. I'll throw in Gayle Lynds, she currently writes contemporary thrillers, probably outside Paperback Warriors area of focus, but she started off her career as an action writer with a quartet of Nick Carter stories submitted under Dennis Lynds name.

  5. I will put a recommendation in for Megan Abbott The song is you and Queenpin are two excellent noirs that take place back in the golden era she is one of the few female writers I read.

  6. Another good episode. I'll add a recommendation for Holly Roth, with books like The Mask of Glass and The Sleeper easily aligning with what's covered here. And her biography is intriguing too.
