  1. A fun episode! Your somewhat limited knowledge of vintage science fiction actually led to interesting selections that include several I wasn't aware of -- and I read a LOT of science fiction novels and magazines back in the '50s, '60s and '70s.

  3. Great Episode as usual.

If you guys want to do some reading on the history of science fiction, I can recommmend a couple of books:

Astounding: John W. Campbell, Isaac Asimov, Robert A. Heinlein, L. Ron Hubbard, and the Golden Age of Science Fiction, by Alec Nevala-Lee

Sense of Wonder: A Century of Science Fiction, ed. by Leigh Grossman. This one has a great selection of fiction from throughout the 20th Century, along with essays to give them historical context. Two of those essay are brilliant. I know, because I wrote them.

I'd like to also recommend the original novela-length version of Damnation Alley. Zelazny expanded it into a novel when the movie came out, but the novella is much better and much more tightly written.
